The Inspiration /

Nocturne Refracted began as a response to Annihilation (2018) by Alex Garland. The film’s idea of “the shimmer” as a force that alters everything it touches sparked a question. What if that same principle applied to typography, to digital systems, to the visual structures we rely on to communicate?

This project explores type as something that can evolve rather than remain fixed. Letterforms refract, grow and merge with organic influences, behaving more like a living environment than a static font. The work sits between font design, motion experimentation and speculative visual storytelling.

Nocturne Refracted is an ongoing cultivation. The existing weights and forms are early growth stages, foundations for a typographic system that continues to adapt, transform and expand over time.
